What is CALM online?

It's a free online database of resources for adult Christian learning that develop Christian faith, understanding and spirituality. Sponsored by The Jerusalem Trust, it's developed, managed and hosted by BRF.

The CALM online database contains brief information and contact details for over 500 organisations, course and resources that are available within the UK.

How do I search for information?

You can search in three ways:

By category
Select a category from the list to see what's available. The search result is displayed in random order and you can choose to sort it alphabetically.
By postcode, town or county
Type in a postcode, town or county to see what's available in that area. The search result will be displayed on Googlemap and listed in ascending order of distance from your location.
By word or phrase
Type in any word of your choice to search the whole database for entries matching that word or words. The search result is displayed in random order and you can choose to sort it alphabetically.

What's the basis for the information included?

CALM online includes basic details about 500 organisations, courses and resources that we know about, along with contact information so you can find out more direct from the provider themselves if you are interested to know more. Inclusion in the database does not imply endorsement by BRF. CALM online aims to provide a useful, though not definitive, resource for anyone planning or researching or researching their own learning or programmes.

We hope that as CALM online becomes more widely known, others will want to submit information about what they have to offer for Christian adult learning and so the database will grow.

How is it kept up to date?

It is impossible for BRF to keep the information up to date ourselves. We will contact all organisations within the database each year to ask them to check and update their entry. We rely on those whose information is included in the database to let us know if it changes in any way.

Can I submit information about my course/resource?

Yes, please do! On the home page there is a form to do this. Submitted entries will be checked by BRF before they go live on the CALM online website.

What happens if I search for something and it's not found?

If you don't find what you're looking for with your first search, try again using more general or alternative terms. If you still don't get a result it means that there's nothing in the database to match your search. If you're searching for an organisation, a course or resource that you know definitely exists, and ought to be in the CALM online database, please let us know so we can invite them to submit an entry. Or if you have contact with them yourself perhaps you could contact them and encourage them to register on CALM online.
